5 Delicious Chaga Tea Recipes: How To Classic, Chai, Chamomile & More

Chaga tea is one of the most popular ways to enjoy wild harvested chaga. How you brew your chaga tea can make a big difference in both the taste and what you extract from it. Whether you steep it for a short time or let it simmer for hours, mix it with other teas and flavors, or enjoy it straight up, there are a lot more ways to enjoy a cup of chaga than most people realize.

Chaga has a rich, earthy flavor similar to a black tea with subtle notes of vanilla. Unlike some other “mushroom teas” like reishi that can be overpowering, Denali Chaga's smooth taste makes it very versatile. These are some of my favorite ways to enjoy it.

How to Brew Classic Chaga Tea

Sometimes keeping things simple is the best. A classic chaga brew lets the natural flavors shine through and gives you a smooth tea, perfect for daily drinking.

How to make it:

  • Add 1 tbsp of ground chaga (or pre-ground tea bag) into about 2 cups of water

  • Simmer at low heat for 10-20 minutes

  • Strain and enjoy

  • Bonus flavor if you add in some honey or milk of choice!

Long Brew Chaga Tea : How to Extract More Benefits

To get the most benefits from your chaga, the long brew is the way to go. This brew method gives you a darker, richer chaga tea, and extracts more of the beneficial compounds. Plus, this more concentrated brew can be made in a big batch and stored in the fridge for 1-2 weeks.

How to make it:

  • Add 3 or more teaspoons of chaga (or tea bags) to a slow cooker or pot of water

  • Keep the temperature between 140-180F

  • Simmer for 1-12 hours, or even overnight, on low heat

  • Enjoy with some honey and almond milk

  • Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks
